Comparability assessment of qualification systems between Sri Lanka and the Philippines
This comparative study assesses and aligns the qualification frameworks of both Sri Lanka and the Philippines to promote effective partnerships, harmonized standards in select sectors, thereby increasing decent work opportunities for individuals in both Sri Lanka and the Philippines.
ILO Sri Lanka, through its Safe Labour Migration Programme, facilitated an assessment to compare the qualification systems of Sri Lanka and the Philippines. Commencing as a pilot measure, this assessment focused on four sectors: Caregiving, Housekeeping, Electrician and Plumbing. This initiative aims to enhance education and training mobility, mutual recognition of credentials, educational collaboration, fair employment opportunities, and international recognition. By assessing and aligning the qualification frameworks of both countries, the study seeks to promote effective partnerships and increase opportunities for individuals.
This pioneering exercise was supported by Sri Lanka's Ministry of Education, the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority of the Philippines. This comparative study is expected to lay the groundwork for stronger partnerships, harmonized standards, and increased opportunities for individuals in both Sri Lanka and the Philippines. The entire assessment process was funded by the Government of Switzerland.
