Bi-Annual Report

Decent Work for Women Programme in Jordan 2022 – 2023

This report summarises the progress of the Decent Work for Women (DW4W) Programme of the International Labour Organization towards enhancing gender equality under the Jordan Decent Work Country Programme for the periods 2019–2022 and 2023–2027. It presents achievements and how the DW4W with its national partners leads change by advocating for decent work conditions across various sectors and ensuring national legislation and policies align with International Labour Standards.

The last two years have marked significant productivity for the DW4W Programme in Jordan, despite prevailing political and economic challenges, and has shown dedication, leadership, and resilience in advancing gender equality and social justice. It significantly benefits thousands of female and vulnerable workers annually by engaging closely with female workers, women-owned enterprises, and vulnerable women and girls to identify and understand their challenges and prospects.

The DW4W programme also collaborates extensively with the Ministry of Labour, the Jordanian National Commission for Women, the Jordan Chamber of Industry, the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions, Social Security Corporation, and the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Women’s Empowerment to tackle gender and decent work challenges, particularly among women and vulnerable groups. This endeavour is well institutionalised and nationally endorsed, as outlined in two key documents: the National Strategy for Women in Jordan (2020-2025) and the Economic Modernisation Vision workplans.
