Global Dialogue Forum on Initiatives to Promote Decent and Productive Work in the Chemical Industry
The purpose of the Forum was to discuss initiatives to promote decent and productive work in the chemical industry. This Forum will examine initiatives to promote social dialogue for improving the performance of the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, in particular of small and medium-sized enterprises.
The Global Dialogue Forum on Initiatives to Promote Decent and Productive Work in the Chemical Industry was held at the International Labour Office in Geneva from 26 to 28 November 2013.
The purpose of the Forum was to discuss initiatives to promote decent and productive work in the chemical industry. The Forum examined initiatives to promote social dialogue for improving the performance of the chemical industry, in particular of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Taking on board the ILO’s Tripartite Declaration of Principles concerning Multinational Enterprises and Social Policy (MNE Declaration), the discussion assessed how corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives and relations with the emerging voluntary initiatives could be promoted at global and national levels in the chemical industry.
The Forum was attended by 93 participants, including 49 representatives from governments, 13 representatives from employers’ organizations, 24 representatives from workers’ organizations, three representatives from intergovernmental organizations (IGOs), and four representatives from non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
The Forum adopted points of consensus.
