Nigeria
Nigeria has been a member of the ILO since 1960 and has ratified 44 ILO Conventions. Today, the ILO provides technical and financial assistance to the country through its Decent Work Country Programme (DWCP), the National Employment Programme (NEP), and other initiatives to encourage economic development and decent work. These efforts have been crucial in addressing the challenges of child labour and forced labour by providing essential data for informed policymaking and intervention. Additionally, the ILO supports its constituents in the country in defining and achieving their development priorities in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The ILO Abuja Country Office, responsible for activities in Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, and Sierra Leone, also serves as the liaison for the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
