Promoting digital wage payments in the Cambodian garment sector

On 20 February 2024, the Global Centre, Better Factories Cambodia and the Textile, Apparel, Footwear and Travel Goods Association in Cambodia organized the webinar “Promoting digital wage payments in the Cambodian garment sector”.

This was an online side session as part of the 2024 OECD Forum on Due Diligence in the Garment and Footwear Sector. The session shared the Cambodian garment sector’s experience in transitioning from cash to digital wage payments, with inputs from employers’ and workers’ organizations, brands and development partners. During the session, we drew from the experience of the Cambodian garment sector to explore the potential role of digital wage payments for supply chain development and compliance, as well as the challenges for scaling up adoption by smaller-scale factories not facing international brands and buyers.
