Skilling for future in PSEs: An ILO-SCOPE study on skills profiles in PSEs
This study delves into the skills profile of Middle Management Professionals in Public Sector Enterprises in India to identify skill gaps and future needs and aims to enhance the capacity of the talented human capital of the public sector so it's well-equipped to navigate the transitions in the world of work.
Central Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) in India have, since their inception, played a crucial role in the socio-economic development of the nation. They have evolved as model entities with a strengthened global presence as today; they contribute close to 14 per cent to the Indian GDP while holding a key presence in the strategic sectors of the economy. Employing close to 1.5 million workers, the PSEs continue to serve as exemplary employers by safeguarding security and safety while also chartering paths for their professional and personal development.
The study focussed on four sectors – Energy, Manufacturing and Construction, Metals and Minerals, and Services, and provides general and sector-specific recommendations for PSE employees at various levels to upskill, reskill and continuously learn as they move forward in their careers.
