Standards Review Mechanism (SRM)
Standards Review Mechanism Tripartite Working Group
The Standards Review Mechanism Tripartite Working Group (SRM TWG) is a subordinate body of the ILO Governing Body. It was established in 2015 to contribute to ensuring that the ILO has a clear, robust and up-to-date body of international labour standards that respond to the changing patterns of the world of work, for the purpose of the protection of workers and taking into account the needs of sustainable enterprises.
The 32 Members meet for one week every year to review the international labour standards by sub-topic. This involves three particular tasks:
- classifying the standards as either ‘up to date’, ‘requiring further action to ensure their continued and future relevance’ or ‘outdated’;
- identifying any gaps in coverage, including those requiring standard-setting action; and
- recommending practical and time-bound follow-up action.
The Governing Body has approved all of the SRM TWG’s recommendations from its past eight meetings, and has requested the Organisation to implement them as a priority.
The ninth meeting of the SRM TWG will be held from 16 – 20 September 2024.
